Meet Mara and Kurt! They met a mutual friends BBQ- Bonfire and have been dating for 3 1/2 years since. These two are a hilarious pair, this is their second time in front of my lens. This is the couple that keeps you entertained and on your toes, I never know what goofy thing they are up to next.
Their engagement story is as follows: They were downtown Kingston watching drunken people try to find their way home, they laughed and provided amusing commentary. I can only imagine that they felt instantly connected; in finding their perfect other half in life. They both have the ability to make each other laugh so easily.
Any funny stories about yourselves? “See engagement story.”
Kurt loves that they share a true love of animals, her sense of humour and “that she’s SUPER DUPER pretty.
Mara loves that they both enjoy spending time with animals more than people sometimes. Also, that they have a perfect balance between wanting to go out for adventures – and staying in the watch movies and just eat junk food. “We clicked immediately, and he’s been my best friend since we first met.”
Kurt knew from the first few months of the relationship that he was going to marry this girl. Mara being a Wedding Photographer herself, finding the perfect unique ring was not only important but very challenging.
Finally, last fall Mara had spotted the perfect ring. She instantly told Kurt all about it, and went back to the mall with Kurt and some friends the next day…but alas; the ring was GONE! The sales lady told them she didn’t know who bought it, and apologized that it happened to be the last in the store. Meanwhile she had actually sold it to Kurt that morning.
When it came to planning the proposal, Kurt found that to be the easy part. He knew how much Mara loved Christmas time with family and all the fun festivities and knew that would be the perfect time to ask – surrounded by Mara’s family. He asked for the help of each family member, and even asked Mara’s parents permission.
The funniest story from the proposal day is in all of the excitement Mara shoved the ring on her finger – despite it being 2 sizes too small. Ten minutes later, Mara’s grandfather (a retired jeweler) had to cut the ring right off of Mara’s finger with bolt cutters. They through duct tape over the jagged edge and Mara wore it proudly for the following week until getting it fixed.
While Mara and Kurt haven’t ironed out all the details for their day, they are most excited to have a relaxed ceremony at their farm surrounded by family and friends. Even their horses will be playing a role in the ceremony ( a giant Clydesdale as a flower girl is cute, right?)
“We had such a great time with Allison, she is so fun, outgoing and relaxed. We immediately clicked with her when we had our first shoot with her in the spring, and this session was an extension of that immediate friendship!”
